Yashdeep- Gurpreet- The Priyanka angle

I wonder if anyone has noticed this recently but every time someone in the Mummy Mahal in Perfect Bride tries to pacify Yashdeep's mother and push Gurpreet into her good books, Miss-I-have-an-opinion-about-everything Priyanka Sharma maintains a policy of shush. Ever since her fall out with Rajbir and Co., her attitude towards Yash has changed and she is beginning to push herself into his mush books. She has, thus, cleverly been avoiding any participation in the talks regarding Gurpreet and the hitler mother and often changes the topic to make her seem like the damsel-in-distress.

That has been her strategy since the beginning apparently as the prospective bride had decided to cry in her introduction video itself during the launch of the show in the first episode trying to attract sympathy for the fact that she was an orphan. Well, looks like it is working too Priyanka.

Perfect Bride Opinion- Yashdeep's mother

Prospective groom Yashdeep's mother has branded herself as one of the most hated mothers after Gaurav's mother, on the matrimony based reality television series 'Perfect Bride'. Her quite frequent altercations with her son's love interest on the show, Gurpreet, has been raising the TRPs of the show on one side and decreasing her popularity with audiences on the other. While the channel guys are busy flaring up the controversy further by involving various parties and making sure 'providence' makes them have their tete-a-tete often, many people, who were previously not interested in the show have been coming to me to obtain background information on their rift. Well, I say to all, the mother made a few statements regarding the unsuitability of Gurpreet in the initial stages of the show and as the classic tendency goes, she has now got to defend her point of view. Thus, her attitude, which had started off as being a mere judgement of unsuitability has now been converted into an attitude of bitterness towards the girl.

The girl and the boy, however, are adorable and are probably two of the only candidates on the show who are not calculating their moves and are truly in teenage love. In my opinion, the love that the two of them share is very endearing. The mess in the mother's head, however, has become too complicated to be sorted out easily.

In the midst of all this drama, of course, the lady has clearly set the grounds for her ousting from the show. If Priyanka were to go by the logic that she used last time, Yash is the apt choice for the elimination. However, her growing fondness of the man is sure to be factored into the shots this time too.

Why Yashdeep's mother doesn't like Gurpreet

The latest episode of Perfect Bride witnessed quite a riot created by the mother of prospective groom Yashdeep over the suitability of Gurpreet to be her Bahu. The point in focus was her profession. While the show has not yet revealed the profession of Gurpreet on formal or informal stage, we give the insider details on the bride-to-be. Gurpreet is associated with the film industry. She works as an Assistant Director with Yash Raj films. Her creativity and bubbliness is, thus, a prerequisite to her chosen career and Yashdeep's mom doesn't seem to like the idea of anyone from the filmdom becoming her bahu. As for Pooja, another contestant on the show, she too belongs to the film world. While Gurpreet is still behind the cameras, Pooja is a punjabi actress. This fact too, however, has not yet been thrown open to the public. While Nandita's profession is being widely perused as a significant aspect of her candidature, Pooja's and Gurpreet's are being kept under the wraps. Could the show producers throw some light on this bigotry?

Ritesh is often spotted at gatherings with his father. His presence with his Chief Minister father had raised quite a few eyebrows during the 26/11 carnage in Mumbai which saw three sea-facing luxury hotels in Mumbai destroyed in terrorist attacks.

Bhumika Chawla runs for breast cancer

South Indian Actress Bhumika Chawla, who started her career with the Telugu film Industry and made a foray into Bollywood recently, was recently spotted at a charity run organised by a Breast Cancer Foundation in Hyderabad. The run noted the participation of many high fliers of the society and also former Miss World Diana Hayden, who is also based out of Hyderabad. Bhumika, of course, was the star of the run and the eye candy of all shutterbugs. In the end, however, it's all for a good cause.

Manisha and Juhi on the sets of Meghna

Manisha Koirala makes a comeback after a long time with upcoming film 'Meghna'. The movie is a short film set in Srinagar and also stars Juhi Chawla. The two yesteryear actors are currently in Srinagar, amidst picturesque surroundings shooting for the movie. The last commercial venture Manisha was seen in was 'Company'. After 'Company' she has dabbled in a lot of art cinema, noted releases of hers in that genre being Escape from Taliban, Calcutta Mail, Anwar. Juhi's career too has not exactly been on an upswing. It would be good to see the two coming together for another socially sensitive film this time.

Freida Pinto, whom no one knew till a few months back, has suddenly become an International star. The female lead of Danny Boyle’s Oscar winning Slumdog Millionaire has hoisted all its actors, who were picked out of anonymity, into sudden stardom. Freida was recently seen rubbing shoulders with the likes of Demi Moore at the middle East International film festival at Abu Dhabi. Seems like she’s caught the fancy of a Sheikh or two!

Rani getting married?

Rani Mukherjee is a bird caught in a trap. She had announced to the world prior to the release of her latest flick ‘Dil Bole Hadippa’, that the film’s success would determine her marital status. Peeved at incessant questions from the media regarding her marital status, she had announced that if the film would be a success, she would continue her acting career for a few more years and if the film did not do too well at the box office, she would retire from filmdom and settle for marriage. And now, the movie which was supposed to be a litmus test for Rani has bombed at the box office. And the pretty lady is trapped in a web of her own words.

Who is the lucky guy gonna be? Most industry people would vouch there’s more than a spark or two flying between Rani and Chopra family heir Aditya Chopra. Do these sparks finally see the light of the fera havan? We will have to wait and watch…

Shilpa Shetty meets Jermaine Jackson

Jermaine was on a visit to Mumbai recently to take part in a fusion recording with Adnan Sami. And while the International star was in town, Shilpa left no stone unturned to capitalize on the star’s power for the sake of her own media attention and invited the former fellow contestant on Big Brother for dinner. Jermaine and his wife Halima graciously accepted the invitation despite their tight recording schedule and Shilpa was glad that they reconnected once again as friends even after three years of no contact. She says,

I met Jermaine Jackson and his wife Halima after nearly three years...caught up on old times, got nostalgic over our experiences in the 'Big Brother' house. It had been so long but we picked up from where we left, one thing being constant - our friendship, so was happy on that front,

Shilpa Shetty holidays with Raj and family in Maldives

Shilpa Shetty was recently spotted in the islands of Maldives along with beau Raj Kundra and both the families. Shilpa, her sister Shamita, Father and Mother decided to join NRI businessman Raj Kundra and his family on a holiday to Maldives where they celebrated Raj’s birthday in September. Shilpa was elated about the trip not only because both the families would be together on the trip but also because she considers this year’s birthday to have a special significance for Raj. Raj’s birthday falls on 9^th September and for the only time in his lifetime, it fell on date 09-09-09. She and her folks definitely made sure they made it special for Raj. Shilpa Shetty gets emotional about Bigg Boss

Shetty reminisced about her stint at Bigg Boss in its second season on her blog http://www.shilpashettylive.com/blog/ recently. Seeing Amitabh Bachchan take her place on the show as the host of the reality television series, she was overcome with tears and confessed,

"I MISS saying “Chakkar pe chakkar, Pange pe panga, Dekhte rahiye Big Boss, cause yeh hai sabse changa!” Ha ha, my closing line when I used to host it… Will miss being part of this season but am sure that one Shetty in the House will more than make up for me."

The other Shetty she makes reference to is her sister Shamita, who was approached to be a part of the show and willingly agreed in spite of her sister’s better advice. Shilpa did not want Shamita to be a part of the show as she cannot bear the thought of parting with her second half for close to three months. Of course, in the midst of stating the time period, she inadvertently claims that Shamita is going to last till the wee end of the season and not get eliminated in the early days itself. We wonder, does Shilpa know something we don’t?

Getting emotional about her sister’s participation, she states,

"I scurried to spend the last two days before she left, tried to dissuade her; considering she’ll be away for 3 months if she lasts! Can’t describe how difficult our last goodbye was; now I know what she went through when I left 3 years ago to be part of Big Brother. We are very close so it was heartbreaking. I miss her already."

Amrita Rao might have been the perfect bahu in Vivaah and the perfect host in Perfect bride, but behind all the maturity, there is a small girl hidden somewhere. She still loves to play with dolls and has a huge collection of Barbie dolls stacked from her childhood days. And she even has names for all her barbies. Whoever marries her, whenever, now knows what the perfect wedding gift for the bride. Gift her a cute Barbie doll, just like her.

Namrata Shirodkar might be a thing of the past to many but her starry airs have not left her. The yesteryears actor, when spotted in a public appearance recently created hue and cry over the swarming horde of shutterbugs who wanted to capture her in a frame. The lass complained over the reaction of the photographers and insisted that she will ‘allow’ only ‘two photographs’ of her to be clicked.

Mallika’s lips in Focus!

What are mallika’s hottest assets? Her lips. So would say celebrity photographer Patrick McMullan who has captured the hot actress’s voluptuous lips for his collection. He spotted Bollywood sex siren Mallika Sherawat at the New York Fashion week recently and couldn’t resist the temptation of immortalizing the red rose lips. Patrick has a compilation of hot couple kisses released in his first volume ‘Kiss Kiss’. Mallika’s lips might find a place in the second volume of the series, he says.

Saif gets away from the world

Saif Ali Khan, tired of the media attention and work decided to escape to his family Haveli in Pataud for a short holiday recently. Maybe he was even tired of Kareena and wanted some time off as Kareena did not join him on his little escapade. The comic genius Saif, who wanted to spend a little time all by himself, became a couch bug as soon as he reached his family territory. He did not exercise or diet and gorged on food all day long. Was it relaxation or a remedy to wear of depression or frustration is something only Saif can tell us.

Pataudi Sr, however, was delighted to have his son to himself for sometime as he rarely gets to meet him. Amma too, was only more than happy.

Bhansali extends a warm hand to Vidya

Vidya Balan was recently caught hanging out on the sets of Bhansali’s production-in-process Guzarish. She had come there to visit Vibhu, the assistant director, who will be directing her in his debut directorial venture Chenab Gandhi. Though Bhansali is the producer of Chenab Gandhi, she did not go over to greet Bhansali. Bhansali, however, took the lead and welcomed Vidya on the sets and called out to her. Whatever Vidya’s reason for not greeting Bhansali was, the latter sure is a gentleman.

Hrithik Ash to come together once again in Guzarish

After the tremendous success of their Jodi on screen in both dhoom-2 and Jodha Akbar, Hrithik and bollywood’s first bahu Aishwarya rai Bachchan will now be seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s latest production Guzarish. The shooting for the flick is already underway. And reportedly, the sets of the film shooting have become a popular hang-out spot for many industry friends who regularly throng the sets to have a tete-a-tete with the leading cast and their director. We wonder if Abhishek is one of them. He wasn’t exactly too happy with the intense chemistry between Abhi and Hrithik during the shooting of Jodha Akbar and is also known to have been rather grumpy when it comes to the smooch scene between the pair in Dhoom-2. We wonder what Guzarish will hold for us, that will raise the blood pressure of hubby darling once again.

Shahid and Rani paired in DBH

If you thought Shahid and Rani come together on screen for the first time in Yashraj films latest cricket bonanza Dil Bole Hadippa, think again. Shahid and Rani were seen for the first time together in a pepsi ad a few years ago. Shahid was a big fan of Rani Mukherjee then who had just started out on her career a little while before the ad came her way.

For Shahid, it was a dream role to play the lead opposite an actor he admired so much. He would even tease Rani on the sets of DBH that he was a fan of the lady actor. And, when on the fields, they would have a wholesome round of some good humoured prank playing and masti. Shahid recollects,

Before shooting bean for the film, Rani had been practicing cricket for five-six months. She was nervous that I may not know how to play cricket though I had claimed otherwise. She called me one day and insisted I leave everything I was doing and come to Juhu immediately.

I reached Juhu, and saw Rani, in cricket gear. She smiled and showed me her cricket prowess. She was playing really well. She asked me also to play. I did and she knew, I knew the game and told me, ‘Ab tu jaa’.
